Fashion Tag | What's your fashion statement?

GIG
If any of you loveliesss have had the time to check out my contact page or side bar, you would have noticed that I am a part of the Girls Inspired Group (G.I.G.). We're a group of bloggers that has a group on Facebook to showcase our blogging skills to other bloggers who are just like us; wow that was a mouthful ;) This week's G.I.G. Spotlight #2 is a Fashion Tag and the topic...What's your fashion statement?

I finally received the topic information this morning and literally "lol'd" in my head. "Fashion? I haven't a fashion bone in my body!" I come from Hawai'i, where the climate stays within the high 80's, low 90's the majority of the year and for goodness gracious why would I dare wear a peacoat? Quite frankly, I didn't know what a peacoat was until a year ago. I do own one and I wear it during the rainier weather. Luckily, the G.I.G. spotlight gave me the opportunity to do some digging and I've come to the conclusion that my fashion statement would most definitely have to be simple

Lately, sheer has been my choice of fabric for blouses and it's a definite plus in my (imaginary) book if it is styled high-low; high in the front with a long or short tail in the back. I have a warm undertone so I usually go for colors like royal blue, navy blue, maroon, salmon, pink, deep purple or beige. A loose, sheer top with 3/4 of an inch sleeves is ideal especially because it makes me look slimmer. Skinny jeans have become a daily thing for me and i've been wanting a pair of maroon jeans for quite some time now.

Because of science labs and studio work in school, I need to wear a lot of toe-covered shoes and I'd rather wear ballet flats than a tennis shoe any day. However, I also like to wear slipper flats (like the middle shoe pictured above) and my absolute favorite...extremely high heels. It does wonders for a chubby 5' 2" lady like me! And of course, my shoe collection would not be complete if I didn't have a nude shoe color. And for the love of everything big, I would not be me if I didn't own a huge purse. My current favorite is my Michael Kors Jet Set Tote in white and beige.

I had to really sit down and think, "Really Jessika? Is that ALL you're about?", and no, it's not. My biggest fashion statement of all that is always changing and always fun learning about is makeup!

My current makeup fashion statement is lipstick. Pink lipstick and MAC Diva (love!). As you can see, I'm a huge fan of MAC cosmetics. I love a dramatic (purple) smokey eye and I do wear it daily. I don't care if it's meant more for the night, but the smokey eye is my look; it makes me, me.

Thanks to my hula career, I have been able to experiment with makeup and let it grow on me. Being able to show off my fashion statement through makeup makes me feel complete. Thanks G.I.G., Mari from I Love Green Inspiration and Donah from Sweet Jelly Bean for allowing me to take part in this tag and learn more about my fashion statement!

Don't forget to check out the G.I.G. blog (linked up above) and please, feel free to join the G.I.G. Facebook group! (linked in my side bar).

So...what's your fashion statement?

Happy Thursday + xo,
Jessika
